LYNC Academy Overview

LYNC Academy exists to coordinate life-changing personal growth through LYNC's model of care.

Who we “LYNC” ⇒  Youth & families struggling in a traditional school environment.

What ⇒ The LYNC model supports systemic social/emotional learning amongst the student, family, and school district by helping students feel safe, identify/manage emotions effectively, and set achievable goals to transition back to school. A sustainable transition includes growth in social-emotional well-being, increased empowerment in challenging situations, identifying academic barriers and developing skills to persevere, and engagement from the family to translate success across all of the students’ environments.

Community Experiences include ⇒ Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, Commerce for Change, YMCA, Einstein Project/Makerspace, Brown County Library, Volunteer Opportunities.

When ⇒ M-F 9am-3pm (follow district calendars)

How ⇒ Through unconditional positive regard & emotional safety, LYNC is able to leverage experiential learning resulting from academic completion and school readiness.

Why ⇒ The LYNC model puts the focus on academic completion and social-emotional learning that links our students and families to resources, opportunities, and connections in their schools & communities. This supports a more successful transition back to their home school.

Who ⇒ A Wisconsin DPI Private School with state licensed social workers & educators with over 50 years of total experience in their respective fields.

LYNC Time ⇒ Clinical staff provide ongoing, 1:1 Social- Emotional Learning support for up to 10 hours/month for students.

Family Engagement ⇒ The LYNC model highlights the importance of collaborating with families and caregivers to enhance student growth and progress in the transition process. The Family Engagement sessions with LYNC's licensed social workers supports the model by offering at least bi-weekly contact (in the home, community, or at LYNC) to check-in, stay connected about goals, and encourage continued progress across all environments. By connecting with the families and caregivers, we gather insight into how home life is impacting student success, as well as develop a common language between the student, school, and home. Families and caregivers also benefit from the support, as they have the opportunity to share concerns, review behavior/transition plans, and make connections to community resources.
