LYNC ACADEMY VALUES:

Unconditional Positive Regard: Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR) - Developed by Carl Rogers. The act of supporting someone and accepting them, even when they don’t believe in themselves, and regardless of what they have previously said or done.

Active and Sustained Engagement: Engagement communicates that you care. It is not a single moment of attention, but a consistent effort to connect, listen, and show up for students in meaningful ways. Active and sustained engagement strengthens trust between students and staff, fosters a sense of belonging, and encourages participation in learning and support opportunities. When students feel seen, valued, and supported through ongoing engagement, they are more likely to stay connected to school, follow through on goals, and take ownership of their growth and success.

Natural and Not Punitive Consequences: Illuminating natural consequences accentuates the students autonomy (choice), thus supporting the development of trust in the student-school relationship and can foster personal growth through self-reflection. Punitive consequences perpetuate feelings of shame, sadness and guilt, can increase deflection and guardedness, and can reduce self-reflection and the sense of personal responsibility by taking away the sense of control and autonomy.

Student-Led Journey: We follow the students pace and priorities. When students help guide their own path, they feel empowered and that leads to better results, stronger trust, and lasting progress
